Southwest Rainstorm

The tank seen in the photo left, was built as part of the Mayer Domestic Water Improvement District (DWID) water storage tank improvement project.

Serving as the District Engineer of Record for the DWID, EWL was tasked with the design of a new potable water storage tank in the  town of Mayer, AZ.  The new storage tank increased the main site storage by 200% by adding 200,000 gallons of water storage capacity to the system.  EWL provided project planning and funding services to assist the District in obtaining funding to construct the project.  EWL designed the welded steel tank on a concrete ring foundation.  The design solved complex site challenges and included an in-situ mixing system since the tank floats in fill/draw mode based on system demands.  

After design and permit approvals through Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Yavapai County, EWL  assisted the DWID with bidding and contractor selection.  EWL performed construction management, resident engineer and overall construction oversight duties, which included  periodical routine inspections of the construction progress and  assisting the contractor with any field-related issues. EWL observed the  testing, chlorination, and start-up activities of the storage tank and  prepared record drawings of the tank to allow for final permitting and AOC permit issuance.
